This new home is located on a hidden ridge in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Although surrounded by woods, the house captures sunlight and views from all rooms. Porches and terraces take in panoramic views while local stone "grounds" the house to its site. Precedents of local historic domestic mountain architecture were studied in an attempt to create a classic vernacular mountain home.
